Great article in the guardian on Saturday 14/02/15, joe Sharmen interviewed by Naomi Slade. No idea, John - there are so many forumists! And then there are the "lurkers", thoise who only read the pages without joining in - could be anyone - but he is ( or perhaps she is) clearly a person of taste

Interesting article.  I clicked on the website link to find a catalogue and it seemed like the most recent version is 2013.  Does Monksilver have a 2015 catalogue?

Sure is & he showed off that good taste in a classy national newspaper which can only be a good thing.

A good question!  Perhaps Ollie Howes' site is  a better hunting ground for  current plants from Monksilver - but the snowdrops and aconites seem to be marked sold out... I really don't know.

Joe doesn't do a catalogue as such, instead he sends to his customers an "Availability List", this lists the bulbs that he is selling and the number that are available- some of them are in very small numbers ie as few as 5 available.  The latest list was sent out last Friday and covers this week Only so you have to be quick off the mark to have any hope of receiving the ones you want.  As an example, last year I managed to get 'Shrek' it was the fourth year I'd tried to order it.  Otherwise it is a case of attending an event where Joe is selling or buying on eBay.

Thanks, Brian.  I guess that is a good position to be in as a seller but frustrating for buyers.  Although I have to admit that the unusual snowdrops in my catalogue usually sell out in the first few days after posting.  I don't have huge quantities though.

I received the availability list for the first time this year.

Decided not to order anything - certainly not 'Joe Sharman' at £400 - but take my chance at the Cottage Garden Snowdrop Day at Hadlow College this Saturday - tickets only.

I was happy to receive a copy this year too Arthur.  Ordered a few Eranthis but don't hold out much hope as the numbers were very small.  I am no longer a member of the Cottage Garden Society but intend to go to the Great Comp Gardens 'Snowdrop Sensation' on Sunday 22nd Feb as it is only 10 miles from here   

Are any other members of the forum going to the Snowdrop Sensation?
