If the weather is clement then we hope to be there. Not been to Kendal since I left Uni, over 45 years ago.

Hope you make it to the show.

The team is getting ready and I hope it is a bit less stressful for Alan this year, now that he has managed the first one very successfully in 2014.

Susan and I will be around all day as well as helping set up on friday evening. As usual I will be manning the members plants stall for at least part of the day and Susan will be doing the important task of womanning the show computer.

For those who don't know Summerdale Garden plants: it is the local nursery owned by the parents of Abi, who owns the nursery Susan works at (Abi & Tom's Garden Plants). They have a very eclectic mix of well grown plants including many primula and other things well suited to the Lake District climate.

I have no doubt Alan will again cope very well.
There is the new artistic section to the Kendal show this year, too - hope that is well-supported too.

What a pity that none of the AGS' "Tweets" about the show mention that it is a JOINT show with SRGC.

The SRGC  always makes mention that this ( as well as Hexham and Ponteland) is one of the "joint" shows", no matter what set of rules these shows are run under.

It is not just in "Tweets" that this information is missed - the same happens on the AGS website  too- no mention of the SRGC at all....   very disappointing.

I suggest being aware of glass house syndrome...............The AGS Shows Handbook always says at the top that it is 'organised by the AGS in conjunction with the SRGC'. In the SRGC shows handbook this is only stated for the Newcastle show. You have to read down to  'Organisation' to find that members of both societies are eligible for the other two shows. The AGS page for show dates and venues also states which shows are joint.

p.s. I don't Tweet, I leave that to the birds

There is the new artistic section to the Kendal show this year, too - hope that is well-supported too.
Just finished one of the paintings this morning! I want to contribute since the AGS have allowed more interesting classes that don't have to be 'the full botanical'.
Hope to see some other forumists there - please introduce yourselves if you see me.

As it happens I posted this event on the AGS website - I have been doing that recently to help out.

There is no evil conspiracy - merely omission in haste.  Rather than re-type information from the shows handbook (which includes the line "Organised by the ALPINE GARDEN SOCIETY in conjunction with the SCOTTISH ROCK GARDEN CLUB") I copied last year's event details and updated it with the information about this year's event.

I will try to correct this omission for future shows; if there are mistakes please feel free to give me a polite nudge.

Very kind, Jon.
I expect, given the unstinting publicity which is given to AGS events on this site,  that you can see that it is a tad odd not to see the SRGC even mentioned in AGS public  notices for joint shows.

I would love to come to the Kendal Show but as much to see the Lake District and gardens like Holehird as anything else, which puts it into perspective for me. I do think this, which is a new Show as far as place is concerned, is an opportunity to fly the flag for alpines in general and for closer organisational ties to be forged between the two alpine societies, still in the same country at least at the moment ;). Change seems to be in the air in all sorts of ways and the success of the alpine shows presumably must lie in those new gardeners who get involved as much as for those who have been for much of their lives. Hope that all those new to the alpine gardening world enjoy visiting Kendal! I'm sure they will.
