It occurs to me that we don't hear much about Welsh events in the forum so I thought this would be of interest  -

Martin Sheader  will be speaking at  Bangor University ( published in the Treborth Botanic Garden blog ) this Thursday

LEN BEER MEMORIAL LECTURE. ‘PATAGONIA – COAST TO COAST’ by Dr. MARTIN SHEADER.
Martin Sheader has travelled extensively in this part of South America and his book ‘Flowers of the Patagonian Mountans’  is the most comprehensive photographic guide yet published to the area’s diverse and fascinating flora.
Date: Thursday 19th March 2015
Time: 7.30 p.m.
Place: Main Arts Lecture Theatre, College Road, Bangor
Cost: Donations welcome at the door.

(Treborth Botanic Garden is located just 2 miles from Bangor, on the banks of the Menai Strait, bordering the Snowdonia National Park.
The gardens are approximately 1 hour driving time along the A55 Expressway from Chester and 90 minutes from Manchester airport. The train service from London or Manchester (via Chester) is frequent.

Got the tip about Martin Sheader's talk from Robbie Blackhall-Miles (who is the propagator at Crûg Farm Plants) and co-keeper of one of the smallest "botanic Gardens"  in the UK   and who has also just been enjoying a visit to Aberconwy - home of the propagating Lever Family!
Look at these photos from Robbie of plants at Aberconwy - and WEEP  that they don't do mail-order!

Great photos of Aberconwy nurseries, looks fabulous and would love to visit myself, shame they don't do mail order but they do  of course attend a lot of the AGS / SRGC  shows, where they always have a fantastic range on offer ( still not much help to our overseas friends though I know).
Anyone have more photos of the nursery please

Aha! I knew that would  coax you out -- yes, I must admit that Robbie's garden in indeed probably the smallest Botanic Garden in the Universe!
 ;D
.... and haven't I made a neat job of picture nicking?
