At first it`s only a name of mine. I don`t like to give a Nr. 0815 for my sweethearts. For the later way to England the name must be more significant.

Hagen, yes we do use "splitter" and "clumper" to mean a snowdrop that splits and makes clumps quickly. I understand the meaning of your name. I just had not seen "splitter" used in a snowdrop name before, so I thought it might mean the spathe splitting.

Of course, I understand now that it is your private name for the snowdrop, not an official name.

Martin, if you are the MB of several books about live and love problems about 50. than you have such a lot of mother wit. But if you are not, excuse me. GRÜNER SPLITTER means in German green part/chip/shive? (If you destroys a mirror, you have a lot of ????) But it should also ambiguous. German and English too. So it`s also a  good advice for a clumper/splitter.

Yes, Hagen, that's me. My books are published in Germany, and the ones for men and for women after they are 50 have been good selling books in Germany and the UK.

It`s much easier to reed your books in german language, than to observe your texts here in the forum. It`s a pity for me.
But with such a lot of motherwit, you can understand ol my visions of galanthusnames. May be, you are very correct......too correct?

Yes, I understand now. It's a clever name. And a nice snowdrop. I hope to have some hybrid virescent seedlings from some of my snowdrop hybridising crosses flowering in the next two or three years. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the crosses have worked well and I get some good virescent types.

Hans & Maggi

We have overlooked the obvious answer for Hagen's new cultivar.  It would describe it beautifully and would also recognise his work
