There were some great plants on show today - plant and bulb sales were good as well - managed to get there today before the bacon ran out as well which was really great

Not us either.
Slightly confused, The Judges had left a note next to one Cyclamen labelled C. graecum ssp. anatolicum saying the t it was more correctly C, maritimum, BUT the Farrer Medal plant was labelled C. graecum ssp. anatolicum, but did not have the note changing the name. So, are all C. g. a, now C. maritimum or only some of them?

My question too. I believe it is an 'accepted' name change but not yet in universal circulation. These things inevitably create an overlap in naming so you get both in circulation for a time.

My excuse is we put on the award cards what the Judging Coordinator writes down :P

So, are all C. g. a, now C. maritimum or only some of them?

It would have clarified things a little if the judges had stated that the comments related to all the plants labelled as C. graecum ssp anatolicum and not just the pan the note had been placed against. Yes, ssp anatolicum has been raised to species level - maritimum - following the latest taxonomic research. It's an interesting issue, I think, from a judging perspective. To what extent can/should show schedules be modified or relaxed 'in-year' to reflect the latest advances in plant taxonomy? Strictly speaking, any anatolicum plants on the bench shouldn't have been in the graecum class because they are now a separate species but they can't be NAS because the 2014/15 schedule was set before this change to specific level took place. And it's unrealistic to expect most exhibitors to know about this so soon after the change was made. Though as the Farrer Medal winner is also one of the Cyclamen Society's most successful exhibitors, I think it's safe to assume he knows about the changes in the graecum family (!) but you go with what's printed in the show schedule; they are always going to lag behind to some extent. However, I was amused to see one plant exhibited had taken advantage of the latest taxonomic research. The winner of the class for 1 pan Cyclamen (excl. hederifolium group and graecum) was a Cyclamen maritimum . As the exhibitor is a senior member of the Cyclamen Society and a prominent AGS judge, I couldn't possibly comment. (Quick thinking, Vic!)

I was not criticising the Judges or the exhibitor or anyone else for that matter. I only wanted to know so that the picture I took could be properly labelled.
There have been so many changes to names in so many Genus, I am amazed that anyone can keep up with them. No doubt the Schedules will reflect these changes eventually.
Actually it makes it hard for us poor photographers too, in that I will now have to go back through all my Show pictures and rename so many of them.
