Autumn Weather - 2015
« on: October 02, 2015, 11:57:50 PM »
We had our first Autumn rain on 1 October and another is forecast for Saturday night into Monday. Temperatures have finally cooled to around 20 C for a high temperature during the day.

This is a very welcome change in the weather for us. This has reduced the fire danger considerably and hopefully is a harbinger an abundant rainfall season this year.    :)

Apparently the northern lights were spectacular last night.

Yes, but I didn't see anything :( Just clouds and fog.

After nearly three days of rain this was a welcome sight when hanging out the washing yesterday.  It was just as good this morning if a bit chilly.

Where I am, Abigail's making her presence felt, the wind has not stopped blowing all day.

Missed most of Abigail here, been a bit breezy and quite cold today but managed a couple of hours in the garden this morning. First gardening fpr the last four days which, to put it mildly, have been wet. Matt Topsfield on Benbecula and Chris Johnson on South Uist must have taken quite a battering though and more to come.

I can empathise, John, we are in our third day of it. Last night was the wildest.

You must get all sorts of weather where you are chris? Great in the summer, but rough in the winter. You and Matt and your families stay safe.

It dropped from 9C to 5C here today. Nice and windy for the washing then it rained while I was at the garden centre enjoying a coffee.

Very much so Chris, hope you get through it all without too much damage to your hard work oudoors and even less damage to you and yours.

Thank you, John. Being retired, I don't have to go out much.

Watching the storms come and go across an angry Atlantic is often spectacular from the comfort of the lounge.

Luckily we were all off the islands when the storm hit. On our return I have found the only sign of a gale passing is just a little bit of wind burn to the very edges of some young Primula florindae plants, but otherwise everything has fared well here. Thankfully, this new house is tucked down in a hollow so we don't get the full blast of the weather. Thanks for all your good wishes.
