Hepatica Day 20th March 2016 at Hazlewood Farm
« on: November 25, 2015, 08:42:45 PM »
Plant Heritage are  organising this event at  Hazlewood Farm, home of Glenn Shapiro, a National Collection holder.   Sounds like a wonderful day - visit to the collection,  plant sales from Ashwood and  talks by John Massey VMH.
 Oh yes, there's lunch too .....    :)

It's the day after the nearby (well not too far away) AGS East Lancs show at Whitworth. We will make a weekend of it.

Tickets are already safely tucked away.  Apparently East Lancs Show has to set up on the morning of the show so 2 very early get ups in a row.  Good job we youngsters can take it :D

Some pictures from Glenn  Shapiro.....

The present Hepatica building on the far right has a solid roof and open sides, it works very well. The new building, behind the conservatory, will have light from above and from the west.

Work on the new building for my National Collection of Hepatica

515093-2
The old building is too full for visitors.

I have kept them as dry as was healthy and very few are in flower yet. In fact the ones in the open garden which have endured their wettest autumn ever, are much further forward.

515097-4
The Hepatica transsilvanica bench. Slates everywhere to go up for the new building, the open sections will have Polycarbonate sheets.

We're delighted to announce that Edrom Nurseries will be joining Ashwood Nurseries to sell plants at the Hepatica Day. Everyone's really looking forward to John Massey's talk!
