Narcissus 'Don Stead' in flower today

a question for English growers - are Narcissus cantabricus, romieuxii, rupicola vars cold hardy? I'm planning to add to my frames to deal with the over crwding in the greenhouse and thinking about what might go out in the frames.

Christmas Day on the Uists has brought the first calm, dry and sunny day we've had in a long time. What better present than to be able to spend time in the bulb frame??

Having been on my wish list for YEARS I'm so pleased to finally have 'Cedric Morris' in my collection, with many thanks to a kind Forum friend. Flowering right on cue, this bloom has been out for over a week and still looking great. I'm not disappointed either, he's a stunner.

Also out are 'Camoro', 'Limey Lass' (with many more buds to come) and Narcissus romieuxii mesatlanticus, as Ian showed us recently, opening creamy and fading whiter.

They are all beautiful Matt, but Cedric Morris is something special (and my favorite Narcissus to).
In 2011 I got 3 bulbs from Beth Chatto garden, and they have multiplied to 15. Last year I chipped one of them resulting in 8 bulblets. They all survived their first year and most of them have 2 leaves now.

Narcissus romieuxii ssp. romieuxii var. mesatlanticus.
Evolutionary transitions in floral color. They start out yellow-green, then to pale yellow and finally white. Just wonderful!

So good to see them growing in your garden Wim.
 I wish we could grow them outside here in Aberdeen I think we would need to get a real summer every year for them to thrive.
