Maggi, a bit strange? Ericas are woody shrubs. According to Stace and CTW Monotropa are members of their own family. Taxonominists strike again.
Many plant families contain both woody and herbaceous plants. Fabaceae comes to mind. But almost all members of Fabaceae look a bit pea-like, Monotropa and Erica have little in common.
Gabriela, I have read the phylogenetic piece and it seems to be saying the same as me, only in a round about way. Perhaps I am the only person in the world who does not let anyone tell me how to run my hobbies of botany and plant growing? I cannot find the thread by Robert re-plant names. In this part of the world we tend to speak plainly and say what we think, although this may cause offence that is not the intention. Perhaps it is peculiar to Yorkshire and there are no people more peculiar than Yorkshire folk.
