Modest star, Cyril Lafong, was presented with his GOLD medal award to commemorate winning 50 Forrest Medals by Club President David Rankin - that's 50 Best in Show Plants! Cyril was also presented with an award by Pam Whittle Pres. of the Royal Caledonian Hort. Society- well deserved recognition on both counts!

Alan McMurtie had several of his Iris reticulata  hybrids up for consideration by  the Joint Rock Garden Plant Committee -

He tells me that 'Spot On' was recommended for Award of Merit, and 'Sunshine' and 'Scent Sational' were recommended for Preliminary Commendations   8)

The plants on display  in Dunblane   were in the Gold Medal winning display  by Jacques Amand International at the RHS  London Show  earlier this week

Thanks everyone for organising another good day out for us at Dunblane. Always look forward to this and those bacon rolls smelt so nice when we arrived. Lots of lovely plants to buy and nice catching up with friends.
Nice to see Cyril Lafong receive his medals, well deserved just wish that he would give us hopeless growers a chance  ;D ;D ;D
Thanks everyone.

How wonderful it must've been to be there! I'm so jealous! February is not a month for us to be away from the garden.
'Mars Landing' is outstanding - especially to those of us who love brown flowers! Sadly it will be a miracle for us to get it here in Australia  :'(
cheers

What a fantastic start to the SRGC events in 2016. I'm just back home, so a bit late bringing my photos to the party, but will post them regardless as there are a few plants that have not been shown yet (believe it or not, there were more than just Irises on show!)  ;)

Starting with the snowies:
Galanthus 'Gold 'n Green' - a hybrid created by Henry Taylor (G. p. 'Wendy's Gold' x G.n. 'Janet Aspland')
Galanthus 'Little Ben' - huge flowers on a wee dote of a plant (I managed to tuck one away into a boot in my luggage and it has safely made it home on the plane!)
Galanthus alpinus
Galanthus 'Alison Hilary'
Galanthus gracilis
