Compact camera recommendations?
« on: January 31, 2016, 10:09:37 AM »
I'm looking for a small, light compact camera which is good for macro work, but must have a swing-out, tilting screen. Anybody got any recommendations?
Thanks.

Try looking at Panasonic Lumix range. Can't recommend this make highly enough, had my camera a DMC-FZ7 for many, many years and I use it to take all our nursery website photo's. They can be expensive but you can pick them up on ebay (new) for a bargain (mine was half price to the shops). Hope this helps.

Anne I bought a Canon Powershot SX10IS because it had a screen that folded out. Unfortunately the camera finds it very difficult to focus on anything so it's a complete waste of time.  Trouble is you could do with a weeks trial before you buy. Wish it were possible.

I'm not sure what they might have on offer in this line at the moment- but the online/television shopping channel QVC  has a 30 day money back guarantee which is  very useful - for instance, I used it to buy  an expensive hand held rechargeable  vacuum cleaner - I was unsure as to how good it would be  and was anxious about spending so much and being "stuck" with it if it wasn't up to scratch -  bought it, got in home , tested it thoroughly - and kept it - but I was  happy knowing if I didn't like it it could be returned, for a refund.

(You can find the  channel here.... www.qvcuk.com  Sky channel 650 , Virgin TV channel 740, Freesat channel 800,  Freeview channel 16 )

I plumped for a Nikon Coolpix S9900.  It seems to be the only reasonably priced one with a fully articulated screen available at the moment. Now got to learn how to use it!
