replacing Crocus

Could you please tell me when is the best time to replace the Crocus. I saw some very dark blue ones i a field. They flowering now. Can i replace them now ? Thank you very much, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
do you mean when is the best time to dig them up to replant in your garden?
Iris family seem to be tricky to transplant when in growth and some crocus would probably take a year to recover from being moved "in the green" but some may be okay. If it means getting the ones you want it may be worth the risk of digging them up now while you can tell which ones they are!

fermi is  right to mention that permission must be sought and  given before any plants may be  taken from the wild or even for naturalised plants in most countries.

thank you for your advise. No Wildplants, it's in a Garden of an old Planstman. He told me i can have some. So i was thinking which is the best time to remove them.
I could mark them and take them in the late summer but when he is cutting the gras my mark will be gone.
