MIDLAND AGS SHOW at KNOWLE, SOLIHULL 16TH APRIL 2016
« on: April 17, 2016, 09:56:49 AM »
Congratulations to Show Secretary; John Harrison, to Diane Clement and to the entire team who made the Midland AGS Show such an enjoyable and successful event.  The Farrer Medal (for the best exhibit at the show) was awarded to habitual winner, Geoff Rollinson from Holmfirth with his beautiful Primula henricii.
I will attach a number of images taken at the show, but apologise wholeheartedly for the lack of clarity and focus in most of the images … my flash refused to operate on a single shot, so they were all taken hand held and just using the available (or, in this case), unavailable light.

I, for my sins, am no Stan the man or Veteran Vet, so I didn't amass information about species, exhibitors or the number of stamens … I simply point and shoot and run … how utterly apt.  :)

… more from the benches … and just exhibitors left in the hall at the end of the show, awaiting the presentation and the chance to grab their wonderful exhibits and head for the exits. Thanks once again for the opportunity to enjoy such a memorable show.

Bit late I know, but I have been a bit busy, (trying to get the illustrations done for the next book).

Not late at all, Eric -  it's delightful to see your photos  of what was clearly a super show.  Thank you!

Yes! A really wonderful show, I went with my daughter, Gail, but we could only stay until about 1:00 p.m.
Gail was smitten with the “Alpine Bug” at a very early age and she grows many alpines, she is my best mate!
We had pre-ordered a batch of plants from Potterton’s and at the show bought more — from Aberconway, Parham, and Meadow Farm. In all, we took home 92 plants between us!

I took some photos of the plant stalls, intending to get the proprietors of each stall, but they were off looking at the plants in the hall.

92 plants between the two of you?!! :o
My word, you must be on the Christmas card list of a good few nurseries - well done- the specialist  nurseries need all the support they can get. 8)

Show bench pictures:
These photos are not as good as those which Cliff has taken.
There was quite a lot of gentle jostling and elbowing in, I do hope I wasn't a nuisance to others! . . .Sorry!
Some are out of focus but I hope you can enjoy my poor efforts!  8)
