Stan , I have to agree what Maggi has just said even though you always seem to catch me out with a cake or two or three  ;D seriously you put so much effort into the SRGC shows. I know everyone enjoys seeing the pictures and it must be such a bonus for those that can't manage to visit the shows.

I'm a bit late joining this party, but we only got home late last night. What a very enjoyable day we had on Saturday. The sun shone, the venue is superb, baking first class which lubricated the social natter all day, excellent plants on the benches and some choice plants to be had from the nursery and club stalls (even if we don't have room for them!) One exhibitor's plants stood out for me for the quality of presentation of very well-grown plants, and I was glad to see that Tina Finch's efforts were rewarded when it came to prize giving. I'm just going to share a few portraits to highlight those plants that really caught my eye.

On the way over to Nairn we had a wintry walk above Loch Ness.
Stan's Rhododendron racemosum.
Helichrysum arwae from Nick Boss.
Anemone x lipsiensis
Anemone pavonina from Graeme B.

Clematis marmoraria
Doodia 'Rough Ruby'
Calochortus tolmiei which I think was shown by Cathy and Barry Caudwell.
Roma's Cheilanthus eatonii is still looking good, even before the new fronds are through.
Lithophragma parviflorum - an interesting and pretty little Saxifragaceae.

Narcissus 'Red Hackle' is one for those who love the elegance of the old cultivars.
Viola jooi - similar to, but distinct from Jean Wylie's V. hancockii shown in Edinburgh.
Androsace sarmentosa ' Chumbyi' nicely presented against dark stone chips.
Oxalis 'Waverley Hybrid' demonstrates the standard of Tina's plants on the benches.

Thing about  Stan is that photography is hungry work, so he knows about two or three cakes himself, Angie!  Just as well, we need reports on the cakes just as much as on the plants

Yet another brilliant Show and thanks for that. Thanks too for the excellent article about Benthem and Hooker. Such things make our plants a real part of the history of the world rather than just something nice for our gardens.
