Crocuses in FYROM
« on: June 10, 2016, 04:04:18 PM »
Just returned from an excellent week in FYROM and saw some wonderful crocuses.

First three pictures are general views of Crocus scardicus and C. veluchensis.

Fourth is them both together.

Fifth is C. veluchensis
Chorley, Lancashire zone 8b

Beautiful Crocus Tony. There are few better sights than seeing sheets of bulbs growing in a wild setting, especially relatively scarce species like these.

These are very nice crocuses Tony, especially scardicus and the light yellow form of cvijicii.

I was in Pieria on April 17th.  Only the dark form of cvijicii occurs there.

Some individuals (NE side 1800 m)

and some clusters.

They were growing by the millions but I could only photograph them with a reasonable resolution in a distance of 8-10 m.
