Nice pictures papapoly.
I thought, Crocus cvijicii is found only on Vermio in Greece but not so much southeast as in Piera. On which mountain did you take your pictures?

Yes, it occurs all over Pieria mnts.  These are just south of Vermio.
I climbed from the ski center above the village of Elatochori (Ski center at 1450 m).  Going in the direction from SE to NW I was at about 1800-1900 m.  On the top of the mnts and facing N, Nw and NE the meadows were full of Crocus cvijicii.

Crocus veluchensis is also reported to occur in Pieria.  I did not see it.

Exactly what Ian and I were thinking, Armin - a real joy to see these photos of Crocus in habitat.

George lovely pictures and very interesting. I was not aware that C. cvijcii grew anywhere but on Mt. Vermion in that area. I shall have to go and see it.
