Some people seem unable to bear in mind that most land is under ownership and the owners is liable, quite rightly, to feel that inauthorised collection is theft ....... I mention this here because it seems that Galanthus are one of the plants that seem to engender the worst excesses of collecting mania... often for commercial purposes. Since nine times out of ten, when one approaches the owner to ask for the chance to have a bulb or two, permission is given, why do people steal?
