Dryad Nursery Bulb list -summer 2017
« on: June 17, 2016, 03:27:41 PM »
Blonde Ingrid has  posted about the forthcoming Dryad list  from AnneW  in the Galanthus section - but I am making a note here because there are lots more than just snowdrops included - Dryads biggest list ever, I believe ....  90 different snowdrops, over 140 different daffodils plus other exciting things.

The list will be available on the Dryad website tomorrow ....

A note from Anne Wright about another list - from Ireland with Brian Duncan's daffs!
"Dear All,Our friends at Esker Farm Daffodils have just issued their first list, containing many desirable standard daffodils bred by Brian Duncan, excellent for garden and exhibition. Please take a look!"
This is their website :www.eskerfarmdaffodils.com

Dryad Nursery summer List
« Reply #2 on: June 28, 2017, 03:53:56 PM »
This week, I’ve counted over 5000 snowdrop bulbs, (not including my own hybrids) and have decided it’s about time I went on a snowdrop diet! This will be good for me (more time and space) and for you the growers (more SNOWDROPS).
So, to concentrate on my own introductions (and of course Daffs) I am vastly reducing the number of named varieties that I hold for sale.
In this summer’s list I will be offering a large number of named varieties of snowdrops at significantly reduced prices. This will enable customers and other bulb and woodland devotees to:
- Give family members, friends and neighbours named varieties to encourage the growth of a wider audience of enthusiasts who love these wonderful plants. We know that more galanthus lovers will be a good thing and this can help to introduce others at bargain prices.
- Add insurance stock at low prices to safeguard their treasures or add varieties that were borderline on affordability.
- Try and develop experience in the art of chipping to increase stocks and safeguard treasures in a low risk/cost environment.
- Build up a 'swap pool' to trade with others!
Orders will be on a first come basis and demand is likely to be fierce!
I hope the list will be online next week. People on my email list will get a warning the day before.

I wonder if this is the beginning of a new trend towards more specialisation in galanthophilia?  Although there are a few honourable exceptions, most of us cannot now realistically aspire to grow all the named varieties.  And Anne now no longer aspires to stock a wide range of them for sale.
Almost in Scotland.

Anne  has posted in the Galanthus pages that her snowdrop list will be available soon -  but her daff list is also in the pipeline....
"Dryad Nursery

Just completing my daffodil list. Happy to say there are some new introductions from Brian Duncan and myself in there, including my 'Moon' series shown earlier, and some very good exhibition daffs from Brian, such as 'Sleek', which won me a first at Rosemoor this year (along with 'Coo' behind)"

Even if you had the minions, it is very smart marketing Anne!

Dryad Nursery news - get ready, folks!!

"The Dryad Nursery list will be available tomorrow evening, Wednesday 5 July.
Because we are having a sale of our snowdrops, at much reduced prices, I have put a limit on the number available to each customer for the first TWO days, so that as many people as possible can benefit from the sale. After the two days is up, you will be able to add to your order if any remain that you still want.
Please order by email if possible, if you want to phone in your order, it will be slotted in among the email orders at the appropriate time, to make it fair to all. It would be a great help to me if you give me your order in alphabetical order! If you didn’t order last year, please remember to include your address.
I will try and update the website regularly, so please keep checking to see if the items you want are still available before ordering."
