Pershore AGS Show on Saturday
« on: June 29, 2016, 03:16:08 PM »
As if anyone needed an added attraction when I phoned The Brandy Cask to warn them of our invasion at noon the Landlady informed me it is Pershore's Summer Brass Festival and she is likely to be very busy.  So all we need is warm weather and we'll have a musical accompniment (sic doesn't look right).

Crikey, Shelagh, don't tell that to the pub - the Landlady may not be able to face the probable  drop in takings, even with Brass festival folks helping out!
Enjoy!

Not sure how many  are likely to survive the lunch - but Lawrence Peet has  shown some photos -  the Farrer medal has been won by Peter Farkasch for this  huge Camapanula tommassiniana

541654-1

and Michael Sullivan has been awarded a Certificate of Merit for this  outstanding mini-garden....

Lawrence Peet, who took the photos we've already seen from the AGS Pershore show had a pretty successful day with his own plants - he won the Florence Baker memorial trophy for the aggregate in the intermediate section - Well done, Lawrence - what a good year you're having at the shows!

Maggi the Certificate of Merit for the garden came with a truss.  It was definitely needed, even Johnnie D the doyen of miniature gardens blanched at the thought of carrying it.

I can well believe that, Shelagh - it looks pretty big and chunky.

Hearty congratulations to Peter Farkasch on his Farrer Medal winning Campanula … extremely well-deserved.  In the Miniature alpine landscape classes preference should be given to exhibits in which the plants are well established, surely NOBODY could quibble about this in Michael Sullivan's stunning pan?  I have a rock garden that probably weighs less than that.   :)
Well done Lawrence … on your trophy and these lovely images.

Thanks very much Maggi and Cliff.
Michaels miniature garden was beautiful, he was telling me how it was dismissed in previous shows ( I think possibly local ones) even when the Saxifrages were in flower!!! He has drilled a hole all the way through the middle of the tufa from top to bottom and then lateral planting holes connecting to this central column. A fabulous miniature garden and definitely worthy of a certificate of merit
