Zaluzianskya JCA 15665
« on: July 01, 2016, 09:08:10 AM »
This plant like other Zaluzianskyas flowers in the evening ( and very beautiful it is to!) . Can anyone tell me how to treat the plant so I can present it in flowering condition on the show bench?

Have you got a photo, Lawrence ? I'd like to add it to the Archibald archive thread.

Hi Maggi
I will gladly forward you a picture, probably will be Sunday now, it is a beautiful plant.
I have spoken to the oracle that is Robert Rolfe ( the man is incredible and knew the answer straight away!). Martin and  Anna- Liisa Sheader had written an article, in conjunction with Robert, in AGS journal, volume 74, number 3, September 2006 about plant introductions from South Africa: " putting the plants under the bench until judging is a wasted effort with this genus, which develops an endogenous diurnal rhythm. However species such as Z. pulvinata can be conditioned to perform by controlling day length, four days prior to the show." So there we have it, my plant will have a nice little trip to Pershore but to no avail.
