Hubi suggested I post this picture from 2006.
It is from one of the parks here in Örebro.
I had nothing to do with it I am afraid.

Fachwerkrundbau/ skeleton-framing
English version :  "half-timbered"... the type of timber framed construction of the fifteenth century which also featured exposed timber work in the finished building.

Not even by paying your local taxes, Göte ?  ::)

What a super topic this has turned out to be. I didn't realize Thomas, what a beautiful town you live in.
A brilliant idea to mass-plant crocuses in city areas. Wonder if Susan More and I could persuade our local council to do the same. We do have masses of daffodils but the crocuses would extend the season when the city is in bloom.

Yours are stunning Gote, and heaven knows we all pay enough taxes!

Thanks for the translation Maggi, I couldn't work out from the first one, where "resentment" could fit in.

Googles translation was hairraising and hillarious , so I was just about to post my translation ,when you beat me to it.

And here the result of "Mehr Grün für Neustadt":
Last weekend I was (finally) able to make some photos between the rainshowers. The plants are very late compared with mine, I think due to late planting in October and they are more in the open ground than mine. And the blue ones are just coming out of the soil - I was very angry when I saw that these are not the ordered dark Whitewell Purple, but the bright Barr's Purple  >:( >:(

Those are just brilliant Thomas. The crocuses look wonderful in that setting. You'll have lots of fun with THAT lawn, in the future. :)

You live in a beautiful town Thomas, those are very fine old (I assume) buildings.  (How old are they?)  Please don't spoil the illusion by telling me there is a modern shopping mall just out of shot.  Sadly this is true of Norwich Castle :(
The crocus look fine, you must be proud!

Thomas,
What are these buildings? It somehow reminds me of a Pfalz I have seen somewhere I believe Goslar.
Your crocuses will probably look better than those here in Örebro. You have more variety. Nice Job

Hi Thomas, marvelous work and great pics.
Didn't a lass named Rapunzel live in that first tower? ;)

Fermi - it's not a joke:
The Junker-Hansen-Tower was in fact the Tower that inspired the Grimm-Brothers
(living in Marburg, 30km from Neustadt) to the fairy-tale of Rapunzel!
The complete tower has been renovated some years ago. Open for visits only on first
Sunday each month.

The Tower was built in 1480. The building right of the tower is the city-hall, built in
1489 on the remains of an old castle (13 century) and named Dörnberg-Castle after
Junker Hans von Dörnberg, who also built the Junker-Hansen Tower.

And you can calm down, Tony - there is no modern shopping mall near the old town  ;D

I am reminded of the time, many years ago, when the university gardener planted crocus corms in the lawns around the Chemistry-Physics building where I worked.  They duly appeared in spring when the snow melted, but so did the accumulated detritus of the winter.  The maintenance workers sent to rake up the latter raked all the crocus flowers off with it too - with big philistine grins on their faces!  This was never repeated.  A difference in attitudes!

Howard,
a sad story but more sadly - it repeats all over the world... :'(
Best wishes
