two Primula marginata correct names please
« on: November 09, 2016, 09:18:25 PM »
Searching the web I find about equal examples of correct/typos/mis-spellings for
two plants I have recently acquired :-

1. Primula marginata 'Philip' or should it be 'Phillip'?
and
should it strictly be Primula x marginata 'Philip' (or 'Phillip')?

2. Primula marginata 'Thrumeya' or Primula marginata 'Thrumeyea'?

I always like to check names on labels on new acquisitions for typos and renamed genera/species etc. before I write my own plant label to add to the pot. It's so easy to perpetuate wrong names!

The above might be useful to you. Primula marginata 'Thrumeyea is listed but I haven't heard of of the other one

I need to have a look in the bottom alpine house but I think there is a Phillip somewhere in there - came from Steve Furness

Many thanks David and Graeme.
Hybrid Phillip It is then; along with some other Primulas of mine it is flowering now.
Agree it is a splendid flower.

no worries Allan - and post some pictures if they are flowering as I do enjoy seeing primulas - I had a look last night and if you can find P. Gordon anywhere that is another good marginata.
