Impressive the white martagon! and the others as well. You do not have problems with the lily red beetle?
Here they appeared in the wild as well, seen them yesterday on L. michiganense  :(
Nope it is not here yet

The first Lilium lophophorum to open, this one in a pot. Ones in the ground are moving very slowly.

This was from seed labelled Lilium brownii (sown 2009) but, having done a bit of research in McRae's "Lilies: A guide for Growers and Collectors" it's probably L. regale. Quite short (around 30cm) and has a rich yellow throat.

I should think the leaves ought to be a good indication to differentiate.....

Thanks for that Arnold re-enforces that mine is regale.

You're very welcome.   I have a L. sargentiae that I have been coddling along from a stem bulbil that is going to flower this year.

Kept on making the potting mix lighter and lighter and it has responded well.

Sure to post an image here when the blessed day arrives.

David,
What puzzles me, is why it took so long to flower.
Lilium regale usually flowers in its second year from seed, producing a good head of 4+ flowers on a 4 ft stem.

Found it under the greenhouse staging after some years of neglect and thought I should give it some water and wait to see if anything happened. Hence one flower, it probably thought giving me more would be an unjust reward. :-[

We think this might be Lilium martagon 'Askival Ice' but not entirely certain, any one grow it?  Haven't seen it offered for some time. Can't even recall if AI was pure martagon or a hybrid of it.

john - an unusually steamy 21c today, chilly this morning but the sun suddenly appeared.

Re - 'Askival Ice ' - assuming a Polly and Mike  Stone connection, I checked the Rock Garden index  to see if there was anything about it there - found no mention.

A dead end this time - but the capacity to search the index online and then find the issues online too is a great benefit!
