Morning patrol now starting to really get going, some highlights from the many now through on today's jaunt:

Galanthus Pearl Drops, a beautiful drop from Michael and Anne Broadhurst. Michael described it a slow for him in his garden but mine is increasing well.

Homersfield another drop I picked up from the Broadhursts. Lovely contrast in the shade of green on the two inner markings.

The lovely Richard Handscombe, a beast of a snowdrop, very large and a delightful flower. When I re-potted this in the summer, it was like digging up 5 snooker balls, the bulbs were so large. It bulks well and supplied a bulb for a great friend!

Beany with green marks on the outers. Last year Beany produced no outer marks in common with many growers.

Agreed that accuracy in nomenclature is important - do you (or anyone) know whether "Trymming" is correct or "Trimming"? Since it's a Trym derivative I would prefer the former.

BTW at Shaftesbury one well-known seller was selling "Marley" Raphael. I enquired whether it was a Ghostly snowdrop or just a ghastly spelling mistake. :(

I was talking to Hitch yesterday about all things "Nutt", so Richard Nutt, R D Nutt, Nutt's Early, Richard Nutt's Early, etc. Can someone authoritatively say whether there is more than snowdrop with Mr Nutt's name attached, and if so the exact correct names? A bit of accompanying detail about what type of snowdrop(s) it/they are would be most helpful.

Was there any resolution of the Kath Dryden issue a few days ago? I was rather hoping that that cat could be correctly labelled before it was allowed out of the bag or at least had not travelled far from the bag  (apologies if this translates badly for friends not in the UK). 8)

I always thought it was 'Trymming' Steve, I am sure that was the label from Avon when I bought it.  'Trimmer' is a different kettle of fish, I bought that from Rannveig and that is the label it had.

I think the short answer to Nutt is yes, I suggest you speak to John Morley (or one of the other senior snowdrop officianodos), as he had a lot of snowdrops from Richard Nutt.  I only grow 'Richard Nutt's Green Leaved Hybrid' but know Ann Borrill has a 'Richard Nutt's Early' so guess there will be more - somewhere!

I bought a snowdrop labelled 'Nutt's Early' from Wol and Sue Staines in 2016.
Almost in Scotland.

Having seen what the storm has dumped on you folks I feel ashamed indeed - I take back all my moans about our yucky dull damp weather - I'll just sit here with the SAD lamp on and feel grateful!

You could send us one the size of the Mt. Palomar telescope.  Ken got me a new sectional for Valentine Day, white is so hard to keep clean. ;)

Hard to believe the lights never flickered once during the entire blizzard.
