... the inner mark which I am sure in my plants consists of an M over a Y, for Maggi Young,

Hmm.  Which way up should I hold it to see that?  But congratulations, you have become an 'Immortal'.

Indeed - and not before time!  We have lost so many of 'The Immortals' in the past few years, it was a real inspiration for Alan Street and Avon Bulbs to host an Immortals lunch when they did.  May you live long and attend many of them...if there are any in the pipeline!

Congratulations! Opinions are divided on naming cultivars after living persons. Christopher Lloyd, he of many opinions, always said he thought it was the most awful vanity, and refused to allow anything to be named after him. So there are no Genus Species 'Christopher Lloyd', or even 'Christo'. Only 'Dixter' this and 'Dixter' that. As much as I admire the man, I disagree on this point. Personally, I would LOVE to be an immortal!

John, If you wish, one can choose one of these and give him your name so that you are immortal too. It multiplies well and resists everything.  ;D ;D ;D :P Well, I'm leaving the discussion ...  :-X :-X

I have inherited a DSLR camera from my late Father-in-law, and clearly have a lot to learn about using it if the quality of these pictures is anything to go by. I will have to try taking the same subjects using my old camera for comparison.

Galanthus 'Trumps'
Galanthus elwesii 'Fly Fishing', allegedly: using a short line today.
Galanthus elwesii 'Sickle'
Galanthus elwesii 'Comet'
Galantghus plicatus 'Diggory'
