This mornings patrol has a distinct yellow hue and not just from the sunshine:

First up, Galanthus Ghost, the new pale yellow from Woodchippings. Pale looking plant, which suggests it might be weak but I was assured by Emma that this is a robust and strong variety. Delighted with the colour of both the foliage and flower and the additional shoots reinforces the view that it is a good grower. Woodchippings always supply great plants!

Donaugold, a new yellow for me. Originally sourced from Rudi Bauer and given to me by a friend. It is very lovely and has a highly distinctive shape amongst the yellows.

Sarah Dumont one of my favourite yellows, beautiful shape.

... I arrived quite late in the afternoon and think I caught a glimpse of the lesser-spotted forumist Brian just leaving.

Sorry Gail, Specsavers is quite good ;), we were out at a snowdrop lunch and having a whale of a time elsewhere.

I hope I don't reveal too much in saying that this shot was taken at Heale House.  The venue was open for the CGS Snowdrop Group but not, yet, the general public.  In to remain anonymous they had taken down the signs at the entrance so possibly only a select few of us ever found the place.  There was a river preventing me from getting close enough to the snowdrops to check if they were 'Gloucester Old Spot'

Almost in Scotland.

Hi Brian,
Hard to tell at that distance, but I think ‘Glouscester Old Spot’ tends to be more glabrous, and the spots more distinct…. I’d hazard a guess at ‘Oxford Sandy and Black’.

Morning patrol today, delightful in the sun:

Starting with a wonderful new and decidedly striking addition from Andy Byfield, Galanthus rizhensis 'Wardance'.

Andy describes it thus: "Its a rizehensis... it produces a further set of extraordinary perianth / spathe segments - rather nicely green veined (mimicking the spathes), yet in threes (like the perianth segments)".

I am usually not a fan of the odder drops but this one has grown on me. It is very evocative of a US Native American war bonnet with feathers. It certainly has that wow factor that adds to any drop.

Some others from the 'green blob family', as I affectionately refer to them: Phil Cornish, The Wizard and Trymlet all in action today.

David  - A belated thanks for those marvelous photos of lusty clumps, the South Hayes & the towering 'Green Tear' are quite special.  Also pleased as punch to see your Fée Clochette.

I have inherited a DSLR camera from my late Father-in-law, and clearly have a lot to learn about using it if the quality of these pictures is anything to go by. I will have to try taking the same subjects using my old camera for comparison.

Galanthus 'Trumps'
Galanthus elwesii 'Fly Fishing', allegedly: using a short line today.
[Galanthus elwesii 'Comet'

Trying these again with my old point-and-shoot camera; no doubt I will master the DSLR in due course.

Here's Galanthus x valentinei 'L P Short' from another angle, and finally Galanthus artjuschenkoae. All with the old camera, work required to master the new one!

I got this (unnamed) snowdrop in 2008 and it hasn't flowered since until this year.  But it was looking so lovely in the sunshine today that i am almost prepared to forgive it.

Almost in Scotland.
