snowdrop impressions
Hello,
after enjoying this versatile forum for a while now I would like to contribute a little bit of my own.
Many thanks indeed to irreplacable Maggi who kindly helped me to manage this post.

Most of my snowdrops are grown in pots of clay; Castlegar and Dodo Norton have increased from 3 to 9 or 10 flowers from 2016 to now and seem to feel happy treated like this.
The photo of that lovely clump of Greenfinch was taken at Nettetal last weekend at the Oirlicher Blumengarten, the garden of snowdrop pioneers Marlu and Günter Waldorf.
Since I am still taken by the beauty and diversity of Galanthus nivalis I have added two pictures of this underrated species, one of these short and dumpy, another one quite tall (24 cm) 564064-0564066-1564068-2564070-3564072-4but gracefull specimen.

Best wishes

Galanthus Castlegar
Galanthus Dodo Norton
Galanthus Greenfinch
Galanthus nivalis
Galanthus nivalis

Welcome to the forum Petra and thank you for posting the pictures.  We were out for lunch today and viewing snowdrops in a friends garden, how I managed to come home with two I don't know but that is what's lovely about plants people!

2 newly named Belgian selections:

Galanthus 'Valérie', named for the countess Valérie de Kerchove de Denterghem from Beervelde. With dark green markings on the outer segments.
And Galanthus 'Quadrimont', with 4 outers. Stable characteristic.

Both selected by Eddy Tijtgat.

Then Rosemary Burnham, a classic but easily holding her own amongst the newcomers! Slower to establish than the other two but well worth it.
In my view the three very best virescents by a long way!

Thank you for comparing these virescents to each other, it is very valuable information for someone like me who can't have all (though I know they are not all even available).  :)

..thank you Frédéric and Brian for your welcome...

Last year there was a topic about Galanthus Primrose Warburg and Galanthus Spindlestone Surprise; some assumed they were identical, others were convinced they are two different clones.
To me the clones I have under these names from reliable sources are clearly different in many respects such as growth habit, flowerng time, colour, rate of increase.

Both are flowering now. For comparison the same number of bulbs was potted of either variety and kept under the same conditions until now.

'Cutie-Pie'.  This is one that I have named for myself although the name is unregistered and unpublished.  So far it has proven reliable but not particularly fast to increase so I only have a few.  But you must agree that it is cute?  It's an inversely poculiform type, in case you are wondering.

Almost in Scotland.
