Iris versicolore ?
I read that I. versicolore is 60-80 cm high, mine is only 30 cm high (max).
Also this one is from Turkey, not from US or Canada, I doubt if this is Iris versicolore.

Knowing the origin of a species is good. However, Man has somewhat recreated Pangea. There are species, subspecies and cultivars (smaller, larger, less or more colored, ...). I'm not telling you. I would have collected it in your garden, I would have said that it comes from Holland.  ;D

Some of its surely more expert than me and we definitely have another opinion, I let them say.  :D

Thanks for the reply Fred, it is growing in the Netherlands now but I collected it years ago in Turkey, no cultivar, wild species.

I would also say a Iris gp. spuria. The stem is longer than the leave so I wouldn't say sintenisii but I don't know well this group. You may have a look to the key at the end of this paper : https://dialnet.unirioja.es/descarga/articulo/3753559.pdf

Waiting to see details when it flowers it's a good idea. If you have patience to use translator these links may also be useful. (my guess is with Ralph - I. sintenisii)

Thanks all for the replies. Looking at pictures, I. sintenisii is the most promising but I will check it when the plant is flowering.
