Flora of the High Atlas- source book /

Hello, I'm trying to find out about the flora of the Atlas mountains near Morocco and can't seem to find much info on the internet on the plant species there. Has anyone any idea?

David and I are having q great time but could not find any worthwhile info before we came out

David is now a happy camper... we finally saw Narcissus wateiri at approx 2000 metres yesterday  We even managed to get some photos which David will put up once we are home

Regarding the context of this thread we did not find a guide book to flora of the High Atlas. In Imlil we spent six nights in the house of a local trecking guide who had a little interest in flowers. His flower book was a French edition of 'Guide de la Flore Mediterraneenne'; a nice book but very selective.
Probably the best we can do is our own 'Wild Flowers of the Mediterranean' by Blamey/Grey-Wilson which includes Morocco to 1000m but is still selective at 'only' 2500 plans described for the whole Mediterranean Basin.
Fortunately 'plants cann't read' (where have I heard that before) as some plants we found at 2,200m have been identified in this book and we have still to start working on our pictures and descriptions.
If anyone does find a flora for the High Atlas we would also be interested to hear of it as we will be going back for further exploration of this amazing region.

I had not heard of this book but it is still not what we are really looking for. The Atlas Mountains go steeply upwards for about three hours walking and then downwards for a simlar amount; then upwards and downwards; then upwards ........! Trecking in the Atlas is for the young(er) and fit and I am afraid that we (definitely 'I') am not up to this anymore. Carol and I now prefer one base with lots of day walks from it and a meal and bed at the end. The pub bit is not an option in an Islamic country but the mint tea is good
No, the book we are all looking for is just a flora with lots of pretty pictures!

I was reminded at Perth Show that we had not posted any pictures of our trip to the Altlas. So, nothing too exciting but here are a few.

Firstly a view of the hills we were walking in. Very steep but the paths mostly followed an easy gradient to allow the mules, including us, to walk along.
Teuchrium ?rotundifolium growing in a tight crack in the rock
One of the surprises that we had was this Daphne laureola growing high on a mountainside in a lava field with no protection at all from the heat and sunlight. It was quite compact and had super bloom
This yellow flowered plant is unknown to me.
Finally, and please forgive the quality, these are just to prove that we did indeed find Narcissus watieri. Carol even found one with a completely reflexed cup.

Interesting Daphne.  Lots of flowers in each head, that is for sure.  Love the Narc. watieri.
