How tall are your E.californicums? They look pretty tall in pictures.Last spring 'White Beauty' flowered here, and I had expected it to be as tall as 'Pagoda',but it was much smaller (about half the size of P), and I have to move it so that it isn't overrun by bigger companion plants.
Dug my 'Bryn Meifod' up today to see why it hadn't come up-rotted through!
They seem taller than they are. I'd say 15 cm, and about half the size of Pagoda indeed!
Ian is soon off to lovely Inverewe Garden on the west coast of Scotland to take part in an Erythronium Festival..... http://www.nts.org.uk/Event/Inverewe/Erythronium-Festival-Talk-and-Walk-with-Ian-YoungTours and talksWildlife and natureErythronium Festival - Talk and Walk with Ian YoungIn mid-April the flowering of Erythronium revolutum, commonly known as the 'trout lily', creates a unique experience. These woodland glories bring elegance and colour to the spring succession of Rhododendron, Azalea and flowering bulbs. The right conditions at Inverewe mean they grow in abundance, producing large naturalistic colonies with a flowering time from 10 days to 3 weeks depending on the spring temperatures.Join Ian Young on a Talk and Walk to see the Erythroniums at Inverewe with an expert. "Erythroniums in cultivation- a great turn out for Ian Young's stunning opening talk of Erythronium festival at Inverewe Gardens (NTS) on the west coast of Scotland"
If the NTS had publicised this sooner and more widely I would have planned to be there, as it's almost on my doorstep. Good to hear there has been a good turnout and to see our own BD wowing the audience.
