How tall are your E.californicums? They look pretty tall in pictures.
Last spring 'White Beauty' flowered here, and I had expected it to be as tall as 'Pagoda',
but it was much smaller (about half the size of P), and I have to move it so that it isn't overrun by bigger companion plants.

They seem taller than they are. I'd say 15 cm, and about half the size of Pagoda indeed!

Dug my 'Bryn Meifod' up today to see why it hadn't come up-rotted through!

Thanks!  :) They seem bigger in the pictures, so that's why I thought mine we smaller than usual.

Ian is soon off to lovely Inverewe Garden on the west coast of Scotland  to take part in an Erythronium Festival.....

Erythronium Festival - Talk and Walk with Ian Young
In mid-April the flowering of Erythronium revolutum, commonly known as the 'trout lily', creates a unique experience. These woodland glories bring elegance and colour to the spring succession of Rhododendron, Azalea and flowering bulbs. The right conditions at Inverewe mean they grow in abundance, producing large naturalistic colonies with a flowering time from 10 days to 3 weeks depending on the spring temperatures.

Join Ian Young on a Talk and Walk to see the Erythroniums at Inverewe with an expert.

If the NTS had publicised this sooner and more widely I would have planned to be there, as it's almost on my doorstep. Good to hear there has been a good turnout and to see our own BD wowing the audience.

Yes, it was frustrating that the pre-publicity from NTS wasn't the best - I tried to get the word out when we had the details but hey-ho, you can't win 'em all. Turnout was good though and BD was pleased with response. Tonight Chris Clennett  is speaking  before a "gala" (!) dinner and the BD afterwards. Chris Clennet is also doing the  talk and walk thing on Friday I believe.

Erythronium 'Kinfauns Pink', Susan Band's hybrid between E. 'White Beauty' and E. revolutum. I just checked the spelling on Google to see if there was an apostrophe involved in "Kinfauns" (there isn't-I've got a 'thing' about apostrophes) and noticed from the Kevock Web Site they have it as E. hispanica 'Kinfauns Pink', anyone know why that should be ???

Just a spot of catalogue confusion, I think, David.  It happens! No such thing as E. hispanica, of course.

Thanks for that Maggi-maybe I should I drop them an email and give them a chance to correct it in the next edition?

Good idea. Elea, who is owner of the nursery now, will appreciate that I hope. (Stella and David Rankin are still doing the show displays and some other things related to the nursery  - like garden design, I think)

Likewise, Matt.  NTS are missing a trick. I just looked at the Diary section of the Spring edition of 'Scotland in Trust' and there was no mention of it.
