i also tried papyraceus in the garden but they froze, bulbs are not damaged.

These have been growing outside at the base of a south facing wall for some years now. They flower reliably and increase.

From seed labelled Narcissus Tockwith Anne (AGS 09/10-4123) and I really don't know what to call it now. I know Anne has renamed the plant but can't for the life of me remember what it is called now. Help!

David - I just discussed this daffodil with another forumist. Tockwith Anne should be renamed 'Robin Metcalf' (it was he, not me, who raised it). It is not a registered name, so I feel I can change it willy nilly - I never liked the name, and I feel I'm much more of a trumpet than a hoop petticoat type, should I ever have a daff named in my honour. I will not change it again, so you can rewrite your label with confidence. It is a good 'doer'.

Here is an old monstrosity in first picture is Narcissus 'Rip van Winkel'


In the second photo, Narcissus Pseudonarcissus, which comes from Gérardmer in France.


In the third photo, it is a corolla defect which is spiral in Narcissus pseudonarcissus lobularis.

Interesting. This is a very variable plant in the wild, probably of hybrid origin and certainly involving N.hedraeanthus. All those I saw in the Sierra de Alcaraz were much paler in colour than yours and extremely variable in morphology of the flower (a selection presented in the latest issue of The Rock Garden and more in the IRG 85.

Cheers, Matt! I got mine from Kurt Vickery (Not from Kurt, not too sure where I got them from then, maybe Lars & Kirsten Anderson) if I remember correctly....the flower's bigger than in my "regular" hedraeanthus and a lot more intensely coloured. It does flower on flower stalks that are just as low, though!

2. Narcissus confusus from the Sierra Morena
3. Narcissus cantabricus - from Brazatortas/Sierra Morena
4. Narcissus x matritensis (N. triandrus subsp. pallidulus x N. cantabricus)
5. Narcissus (rupicula) watierii from the High Atlas

very nice set Gerd, Narcissus bulbocodium obesus MS 451 i've forgotten in a corner of the greenhouse. no water for september and still nice!
