Not usually a thread to which I can contribute but we discovered this Haemanthus barkerae in bloom this morning;
from Silverhills seed May 2003! But only planted out in 2007

Hi Shaun,
it probably would've flowered sooner if it hadn't been overgrown by a Calothamnus - half of which fell over during this summer which exposed the haemanthus!

Nice one Fermi - one of my favourite genus.  I have a red flowering form of this and also a hybrid with H coccineus.  I was also very lucky to be able to procure some seed of the pink form last year and they are all doing very nicely.
