A visit to Tuebingen Botanical Garden
« on: March 28, 2017, 09:39:38 PM »
Some days ago we made our obligatory visit to this botanical paradise.
Michael Mauser showed us many beautiful plants and we had a very good time.
A lot of rooted cuttings (mainly Dionysias) from their collection in Iran last year
looked quite promising.
Mrs. Brigitte Fiebig and Michael will give a lecture about this trip at the Conference
in Pruhonice in May.

We are wondering how the large tufa wall is watered.

Thank you Rudi for the nice pictures from your visit in our garden (always good to see the garden trough someone others eyes or camera).

To answer the question of Sue: We built up the wall with two sides made of tufa slabs. In between the two plates there is a soil mixture with a water hose running up to the top of the wall, so you can water the wall from inside. During spring an summer time I also water the wall from outside with an other hose. The water runs down the wall, but I have to be careful with the Dionysias. I also use a plastic bottle with a gooseneck (from the chemistry) to water new planted things.

Best wishes,

Michael

P.S.: We had a great visit in Rudis garden this Monday - beautiful alpine treasures, lots of witchesbrooms, nice troughs (selfmade by Rudi) and great hospitality! Thank you Rudi and Elke....
