Looking forward to welcoming you all to the show in Fairmilehead! Do please come, bring your friends, and enjoy the spectacular display of rock garden, bog, woodland and bulbous plants. There are also plants for sale - this part will be open from 10.30. There will also be delicious home baking - why not make it a day out.

See you there then

The Alpine Dept. of Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh mounts a wonderful display at several SRGC and SRGC/AGS shows - they are always interestingly full of the most delightful plants!( The other week both a Gold Medal for the whole display and a Professional Medal for a pot of Narcissus was awarded to them at the SRGC Kincardine Show.)

We are indeed fortunate - these displays add a great deal to our shows. Looking at these photos the display at the show tomorrow from RBGE Alpine Dept. tomorrow will be even more beautiful than ever! Good luck to Elspeth Mackintosh ( seen in these pix)  and her team!!

A few snaps as the hall was got ready -in remarkably quick time- and local members  began bringing in plants. Unusually there is a snap of myself taken by JW Russell in a pause from  steering  his famous  plant trolley into  the hall.

Sam Sutherland won the Forrest Medal with Primula rusbyi. This plant also took the Corsar trophy for best European or American primula. The show secretary's calligraphy  is worth a photo on its own. The Bhutan Drinking cup for Best Asiatic primula  was won by Jim Watson, one of a contingent of NE England  growers who contributed to the show today.  Also from the North -east  Alan Furness brought several fine Cassiopes  one of which won  the Alf Evans Quaich for best ericaceous  plant other than a Rhododendron. It also received the Kilbryde trophy or best plant in a 19cm max. pot. Sue Simpson-Watt's Rhododendron megeratum Bodnant took the Midlothian vase for best rhodo.

Margaret & Henry Taylor took the Boonslie cup for a miniature garden. I received   the Reid rose bowl for bringing  most plants. In a very good section 2 Mala Janes took the Midlothian bowl for  best plant while Tony & Margaret Taziker took the SRGC bronze medal  for  most points. RBGE mounted their customary display  of bulbs which  was awarded a well deserved gold medal.
