Oh, my word - that all looks terrific!
I think there is again sponsorship from Brightwater Holidays?

Looks superb guys, well done to all who helped create this display and to those who shared the pictures so we could all enjoy the vision, I am looking forward to seeing it on Saturday.

SRGC has more than a passing interest inthe garden which won Gold and Best in Show at GS  for the main outside gardens too!  This garden is dedicated to the memory of Scottish Plant Hunter George Forrest,  for whom, of course, the SRGC have named their premier Show Award!

RBGE is very proud of Aberdeenshire  student, Ruth Howell who designed the garden - as well they might be!  Some more info:
“Chinese Hillside Garden”

This garden, enclosed by a giant plant hunter’s sample case, represents a fragment of Yunnan Province (SW China) as explored by George Forrest, an Edwardian plant hunter employed by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

A rocky pathway meanders between lush green slopes, crossing a small ravine by rope-bridge. The plants encountered are all connected to Forrest; most are plants which Forrest brought to the West, such as candelabra primulas, giant cardiocrinums and many rhododendrons.

The enclosing box represents the RBGE’s safekeeping of collected specimens, and – where they are now endangered in their natural habitat – the return of these plants to their homeland.

Designer: Ruth Howell

Theme: A celebration of the curiosity, courage and tenacity of the plant hunters.

Another RBGE student,Jane Eckersall,  won Silver Gilt for her garden too.  A good day all  round!

Super coverage of the SRGC stand tonight on Beechgrove Garden TV programme  from Brian Cunningham and also of MacPlants, with interviews with both Claire and Gavin McNaughton,  a glimpse of  Kevock, and also the containers of  Darcy and Everest. Plus coverage of both the RBGE  gardens mentioned above.

Better coverage than usual, I thought.

Some photos from the stand yesterday:

Ian Bainbridge holding one of the polystyrene troughs, the leaflets on how to create these went like hot cakes. People were telling me they were going to use them for roof gardens, small urban gardens and many other locations.

The SRGC stand.

View of some of the planting. Wonderful display and very deserving of the Gold Medal.

Richard Green on the seed area, these also sold like fury. Richard also provided an invaluable technical consult via his phone with photos and colours of the more obscure plants, when Helen & Jacky were rarely stumped!

More shots of the seed area.

Super time on the stand, huge fun and many thanks again to Helen and Jacky!

These from Ian the Christie Kind ....
"A few pictures from the Gold medal stand for SRGC. Richard Green masterminded the display; lots of interest with a different way to show Alpines, cheers."
