March 3, 2018 has been confirmed as the date for the Second Annual Galanthus Gala in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.

"The vendors are unparalleled and all your snowdrop, trillium, hellebore (and many other plant-related) dreams can come true. Whether you are a collector or wish to begin a collection of choice woodlanders and woody plants, it’s a lovely way to spend some time on a Saturday, catch up with old friends and make new ones. There will also be short talks presented by a few of the vendors on propagation, cultivation, etc. Refreshments will be available. (The date coincides with the opening date of the Philadelphia Flower Show; you could easily squeeze both in one day.) Further details (time, list of vendors, location) to follow, but do mark your calendar, it is a wonderful event. "

I will  be attend my first UK-snowdrop sales at Myddleton next week, with a friend of mine! And I would be delighted to meet any of you "in the flesh" (rather than "in the green", I mean...  ;D )

I will also be attending Myddleton for the first time this year. No, I'm not sharpening my elbows and getting my best speed walking shoes out. I'm also looking forward to meeting some folk in the flesh and marvelling at the spectacle of the snowdrop crush when the gates open at 10:30. If anyone recognises me, please come and introduce yourself.

A quick journey home was a great relief after the Myddelton Sale.  It was quite like the old days a good SRGC contingent and great to meet Matt T, Emma, Zepherine, Neil, Richard Williams, Richard Webb, Kentish Lass, Viv, Debby, Arthur, Chas, Jane, David and Rachel et al The bacon baps were brilliant, and the soup was souperb (sorry).  I hope all enjoyed it as much as I did and The Norfolk Eye had a good walk whilst we were all succumbing to the fever!

Well last year it was Mushroom and this year a delicious carrot and coriander, I would think homemade by the volounteers who run the cafeteria section and very tasty.  Warmed the cockles so to speak.

The weather behaved but we drove home through rain.  Hope everyone gets home safe.

Great to finally meet you too Brian, as well as the Norfolk Eye and all the other 'droppers. It was a nice convivial atmosphere and a very sociable morning. I was home (at my parents) within an hour. Snowdrops bare-rooted, carefully packaged and in the post back to the Western Isles!

Another lovely morning at Myddleton (warmer than some), good company & a great range of snowdrops and 'small colours' bought and now potted, labelled & logged.  Just too dark/wet to get them in the ground tonight.  Obsession, what obsession?

Some pictures of the Myddleton House Sale in full swing (about 10 minutes after they let us in)

I thank I can see Matt T in some of the pictures; sadly I didn't spot him at the time and never managed to say hello.
Almost in Scotland.

I found a solitary 4x4 with a really nice round shape at Myddleton (better than 'Market Cross', dare I say).  But my point-and-shoot camera wasn't interested.  You would think if I set it to Macro it could work out that I don't want to photograph trees!

And just looking the other way from that find of Alan's...602392-0. I think the end of January is a good time, rather than choosing to go earlier and earlier to pip others at the post. In woodlands snowdrops are at their best in mid-February and if the snowdrop events really want to encourage a new audience as much as an older one its better to catch the moment when perhaps less sophisticated and obsessive gardeners eyes light up with the snowdrops in British woodlands and begin to be drawn in to a world of more detail.

it certainly seemed to be the peak time for snowdrops at Myddleton House, Tim.  I saw very few that were still in bud and few that had finished flowering.
