Great news on the snowdrop book front!

My AT tells me that Freda Cox is preparing a new edition of her excellent book 'A Gardener's Guide to Snowdrops'.

Hopefully the new edition will be available for the new season, although no firm date yet.

It is bound to contain more of those excellent drawings of each variety, so useful to target identification and many of the new varieties.

One for the list!

Freda Cox's new edition is progressing well! She has sent my AT two preliminary drawings of new additions to the snowdrops varieties.

Freda has asked that if you have new varieties that will be launched in the near future, and you want them in the book, please send her an email with photos and a write-up. My AT has her email, so rather than publishing here, if you Message me I will let you have it.

The first is the next beauty from Anne Wright in the Dryad Gold series, Dryad Gold Ribbon! Michael Myers has a photo in his new book. Definitely at the top of the list and a great garden plant like the other Golds..

The second is one from Ruslan, G.p. Alpha Shell which is lovely. This variety has a wonderful texture to the outers and Ru has kindly supplied photos.

Freda manages to capture the essence of each flower in just a few lines which is an amazing talent and it is no surprise that many use this as a target hunting book!

I will keep you posted.

Freda made some beautiful drawings of two snowdrops I originated called 'Green Light' and 'Green Hornet'.  They are similar in appearance but she captured the distinctive features of both superbly well. And she did very well to even encounter 'Green Hornet' as this has only been sparsely circulated.  To cap it off, she then sold me the drawings as she had these on sale at one or two snowdrop events.
Almost in Scotland.

Freda Cox has asked for a reminder to everyone that her deadline for new snowdrops to be included in her excellent book is upon us.

If you have any new ones to include you need to let her know asap.

Let me know if you need her email address.

Freda Cox's new edition of her excellent book  'A Gardener's Guide to Snowdrops' is progressing well!

Hopefully it will be published in time for the new season. This edition has over 2000 snowdrops described and includes her wonderful thumbnail paintings of the varieties, so useful for target hunting.

Here are some preliminary paintings that were superseded by 'better' versions for the book.

One of my favourite drops, Hughes Emerald

Next two from Anne Wright, Dryad Artemis

and Dryad Gold Ingot.

I will keep you posted regarding any updates!

I agree Maggi, the outcome is well worth the effort though. I always see the first edition in the queue at shows as people scan their target lists!  ;D ;D

Freda Cox has asked us to ensure people realise that the Amazon publication date for her new edition is not the one the publishers are working towards.

Just hearing that the new edition has increased the number of pages covering specific snowdrops, accompanied by excellent drawings, from around 80 pages in the First Edition to 230 in the second!!

Some target lists are going to grow exponentially!  ;D ;D ;D ;D
