Iris pumila/suaveolens
« on: August 15, 2017, 08:58:06 PM »
Since there are many Iris lovers on this forum maybe someone can help me with this Iris I collected seeds in Dobrogea. So, no flowers and not many detailed pictures.

I first thought to be I. pumila but I keep coming back and look at pictures because I cannot be sure. I have a list of plants from the area and I. suaveolens is also listed. Maybe someone can clarify this after the capsule - which is a bit too long for I. pumila; also some stems were 2-flowered.

Comparative images for pumila and suaveolens capsules would be best. Thanks in advance - seeds offered of course in exchange of opinions :)

I also took a picture with the seeds, but no big help because they are similar with those of I. pumila.

Iris pumila has no flower stem, the capsules nearly sit on the ground. I think your plant is not Iris pumila.

Thanks Pauli; this was one character that made me think twice then I've read that in rare cases it can happen for I. pumila, which I have in the garden but of cultivated origin so cannot be trusted with ID.
It seems I was right to be suspicious. Please pm me if interested in some seeds.
