Hello Aberdeen,

Hope you have a good meeting. Is it true that when it gets to raffle time and the tickets come out everyone rushes for the loo? ;D  Are Roma and/or Angie there?

Ah, I did, but when I wrote it I didn't know there was a special thread so you'll all have to look at my thread "Hello Aberdeen"

I'm really having a good Halloween, we laid in a stock of mini chocolate bars and not a soul has been to the door so I'm working to the first Law of the SRGC Forum ""YOU NEED CHOCOLATE< YOU SHALL EAT CHOCOLATE< 'COS MAGGI  SAYS SO""

Hello Roma, how are you ponies? You had some very good Cyclamen this season so far.

Hello Angie I got an Haemanthus albiflos from Yann I've read so much about them on the Forum and thought I would have a go.

Hi David

We had a great night here in Aberdeen. Ian and Maggi gave the club a detailed look at the forum and how it works. . So many club members don’t take part a shame as it such fun, they don’t know what they are missing. It’s so nice to get together again after our summer break.
You will enjoy growing your Haemanthus albiflos. I got lots of bulbils from Hans J and they are filling up my greenhouse fast  ;D will look forward to your pictures.

Angie  :)

What a good idea to show your local group how the forum works. I know that very few of my local group use it - yet they all have internet access. Must try to fit this into our programme somehow!

We were  showing just how much information is contained in the Forum and SRGC Website - the  Archibald Archive and the photo of those plants, Local Group info,  the Crocus Pages, all the archived articles, the SRGC Journals and the IRG and Bulb Logs, and all the Index pdfs for those, the Seed ID pictures, the  SRGC Grants info,  Tour and trip  reports, show reports, practical advice on making  frames, troughs, glasshouses etc, the list is endless really - there are  few sites with so much accessible  plant and garden information  with internationally based advice on tap.

SRGC online  rocks !!  Spread the news!!

Before the NARGS site had the big change over and decimated the forum, I, too, did a presentation introducing the NARGS forum and the SRGC to my local Chapter.  It was easy to tout the many benefits, but in the end people still clung to their Facebook!  ::)

There is no doubt that the  ease of posting to Facebook  with smart phones etc  and the  gratification of all those "likes" is something that draws  a number of folks to those pages, Rick - that is why the SRGC maintains a presence there and on Twitter and Instagram, to  make ourselves  seen in those places - but happily,  those places  cannot compete with the  resource for archived, searchable information for which  the likes of this website have been the front runners.
The continuing delights of  Roberts Californian travels, the photos of Archibald plants and the  Seed ID threads to name just three greats  on this forum, not to mention all the other resources of the website, supported so well by the many thousands accessing the Bulb Log each week and the IRG each month  continue to build  this place into a remarkable  source of  information, knowledge and advice  from around the world, to the world. Open to all.
I say it again,  Scottish Rock online Rocks!!
