I now have grapefruit sized tufa to make a tufa trough. I'm waiting for rain so the new troughs dont sure fast

I've been going to make some troughs for the past few years and have never got round to it. I need to get my a**e into gear. :o

I have 2 small plants  in the Alpine House and I will try one in the open garden.

The trough is situated in an east facing position next to the housewall. Protection comes from a protrusion (Vorsprung) which originally was constructed to give some rain shelter to the front door - see attached pic!
Some specimens planted without covering didn't do well - even when growing in tufa.
