Moist packed seeds -follow on from previous discussions

Following on from some discussion on moist packed seed  previously in the forum - notably in this thread  http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=14539.msg370545#msg370545

This sort of general statement is not helpful in any way. What species? From seed exchanges or bought from someone?

Of course, if seeds are not collected at the right time or do not undergo the right warm/cold periods, the fact they are moist packed won't help. I can provide a list with species that will germinate for sure if kept moist properly; some in the second year from sowing (mostly the ones with an underdeveloped embryo when collected).

They are so lovely Nicole Thanks for showing.
I found newly germinated seedlings outdoors yesterday! I'll take few pictures when the sun comes up.

I should mention that the seeds sown on 24/05/2016 - were collected in fall 2015, kept moist at warm (better said light warm as it happens in the fall), then cold. When Nicole got them they were entering the second warm cycle.
So, all we need with Caulophyllum is patience, and moist keep seeds.

I just returned from a hike into the woods, and of course the Caulophyllum shoots were up and shining
I have to make a correction for everyone to read it here: the seeds I offered were always from a mixed population of C. thalictroides and C. giganteum. C. giganteum is more desirable having a deeper colour in the spring, and it gets taller.
Right now I located a C. giganteum population - which is a also a bit earlier than thalictroides.




In the garden, the seedlings appear on the same time, and I would like to show how I grow this species, which is slow to germinate. I sow the seeds into a recyclable container which gets buried into the ground (1), or I simply sow the big seeds in the garden in a spot that I know I won't disturb(2). In the second picture the seedlings appear between Polygonatum buds.
It is hard to obtain good quality pictures with the shoots being so dark.

Those  deep dark shoots are  very  appealing!

Yes they are Maggi, especially after a long, white winter, and as seen from the picture still not many other plants except Sanguinaria and Hepatica.

Glad you have seedlings of the, better said light pink, Sanguinaria Susan. The plant has since vanished like it happens sometimes; don't know the reason, I lost some in the garden as well.
