I don't know your H. pallens at all Rick but it looks to be a very good one, a nice little shrublet. My H. kelleri is a totally flat mat, no higher then Mentha requienii, less than a centimetre in height. The flowers are about 1 centimetre across and while they open gold as you see, the buds are bright red. The roots get very woody which is why I think of it as a shrub rather than a perennial. I love it to bits.
