Rice????????????
« on: September 04, 2018, 11:22:37 AM »
Is this plant really rice?
It has appeared in our garden and appears to be thriving.
It stands around 1m tall and is producing three stems - all showing flowers/seeds.

If it isn't rice, it's doing a very good impression!

Could it be Sorghum? Common ingredient in bird seed and often volunteers around bird feeders.

Hi Johnny, I also think, it is Sorghum, here in Germany it is a relativ
new agriculture, similar mais to produce greenmass. It is more suitable for dry weather conditions!

Looked at pics for sorghum on Google which all show upright seedheads.
Still tend to think it is more like rice?????
