As usual my 'Swap/Spares' pots leads the way!

First up, Bumble Green, this year showing full green tipped marks.

Next a pot of Autumn flowering Plicatus, these have done really well. They also have a great fragrance, nearly up to the Gr-os.

Next, the old favourite Three Ships, early as usual here.

Finally, a delightful pot of Crocus laevigatus flowering it's socks off, single bulb originally sourced from Anne Wright.

Next a pot of Autumn flowering Plicatus, these have done really well. They also have a great fragrance, nearly up to the Gr-os.

Interesting that autumn-flowering plicatus were unknown until very very recently.  'Three Ships' was the earliest and, if I remember correctly, is one of the parents of 'Bumble Green'.  But earlier this year I was able to buy one tiny bulb of an unnamed autumn-flowering plicatus from Ruben Billiet at the Mid Anglia Bulb Sale.  And Ingrid, leading the pack as ever, has a whole pot full.  Our common snowdrop, Galanthus nivalis, is looking increasingly exceptional as not (as far as we know) producing autumn-flowering forms.

There's one called 'Barnes' which is a near approximation to your label.  AFAIK the origin of the name 'Barnes' is lost; perhaps it came from someone with the surname Barnes.

In my garden in Germany near the Dutch border ´Barnes´flowers regularly in October or November. This year this snowdrop is somewhat late, due to the the long drought, and is still in flower now.

In my garden in Germany near the Dutch border ´Barnes´flowers regularly in October or November. This year this snowdrop is somewhat late, due to the the long drought, and is still in flower now.

Near Heidelberg Barnes blooms very early - in October. A lovely no-nonsense drop that increases really well.
I am happy about my own discovery blooming now - a virescent G.e. monostictus. The weather is abysmal - I hope it opens up within the next few days
