You are having a good season  with these, Michael.
The pictures from all members are  lovely - these must be among the most photogenic little flowers!

Can anyone tell me how to get hepaticas to release their pollen? I have lots of plants just begging to be pollinated but even if plants have functional stamens, the pollen won't seem to shed, even in the warm weather we have at present.

Dear Anne, I´ve been told that you can extract the pollen by cutting the fully developed stamens with a scalpel. The pollen then should poor out directly. That does not mean that the pollen is fertile in any case. Good luck!

I so enjoy all your hepatica pictures. Beautiful flowers, everyone. Mine have not really started yet except for a few.

1. 2015 I crossed H. maxima with H. nobilis 'Indigo strain'  (Hepatica x schlyteri).   Now the first flowers are beginning to show.

2. H. nobilis var. japonica 'Ginrin'.  (From a very generous hepatica enthusiast.)

3. H. nobilis var. japonica 'Houkan'  and

4. H. nobilis var. japonica 'Sadobeni'  (from another very generous forum member).

Gunilla, your crossing looks very promising!
I have also see some interesting plants between the Hepatica's sown in 2015. Seeds came from a friend  who has a lot of different Hepatica's in his garden. So there will be crossings among them.

Now it will be waiting for the leaves.

Exciting! I see the pollen is ready  :)-

Hepatica nobilis plena from Gotland is going to start.

It is such a nice plant. The one you sent me is doing fine but I have to wait before it starts to flower.
