Erythronium from Seedex 2019
« on: January 05, 2019, 01:36:43 PM »
I hope that I'm going to get some of the Erythronium seeds which I wrote on my order list. :)
If yes, I'd like to be prepared for how to sow them correctly.

They are:
1492 ERYTHRONIUM californicum x multiscapoideum
1493 ERYTHRONIUM caucasicum
1494 ERYTHRONIUM citrinum ? oregonum
1496 ERYTHRONIUM elegans
1497 ERYTHRONIUM grandiflorum
1502 ERYTHRONIUM oregonum
1505 ERYTHRONIUM revolutum
1506 ERYTHRONIUM revolutum deep pink
1507 ERYTHRONIUM revolutum hybrids

I've watched some of the blogs and read the book, but I'm not sure about seeds that aren't fresh any more?
How do I treat them best?
Thanks for your help (a link is perfectly ok, I just didn't find any threads on that myself  :-[)

This  Bulb Log http://www.srgc.org.uk/logs/logdir/2015Jan141421233053BULB_LOG_0215.pdf may help - it's  basically the  Seed  chapter of Ian's book.

If Erythronium seeds are not very fresh, Ian always  soaks them before sowing.   :)

Another question:
I do not have any separate leaf mould, it all went into my general compost heaps.

What could I use instead?  :-\
