Scented Pleione
« on: January 18, 2019, 06:21:50 PM »
I have recently discovered the genus Pleione, and I am starting a modest collection.
It seems that most are unscented, but which, in your experience, have a pleasant fragrance?

Krakatoa "wheatear" has a primrose scent which can be overpowering.

Pleione forrestii has a delicate but obvious scent as do many forms of Pln praecox.

In my experience, Pleione maculata has the most obvious fragrance, which is kind of sweet smell. So do its offspring with the scented P. paecox, P.  × lagenaria and P.  Confirmaton

I just noticed that Keith Rattray 'Kelty' did have a faint smell too, but not one pleasant to my nose, kind of between over ripe fruits and vinegar :s
