This lovely little yellow Iris attica is flowering at the moment - glasshouse grown to keep off summer rains (third picture also show Geissorhiza splendidissima).

Iris babadagica. Some say it's synonymous with I. aphylla others with I. furcata.

Someone should do a chromosome count on
I. babadagica,
to make a start in sorting out its relationships. The identification as
I. aphylla
is not very compelling in my eyes.

Exciting new seedlings for my hybridizing program: siblings from
I. reichenbachii
ex Mt. Vikos (an apparent tetraploid) x
I. pumila
'Royal Wonder'. These are only about 11 cm tall, but have the same chromosome configuration as the standard dwarf bearded hybrids, as well as
I. lutescens
and its relatives. My plans are to use these to breed very small miniature dwarfs in the same fertile family as the modern SDBs.
