AGS Cleveland Show 2019

A bright very sunny and hot day is always nice to report on and at Stockton on Tees yesterday it was just so, from an exhibitor point of view it is always good to carry your exhibits from the car the the show hall and back later in the day in the dry.
I nearly forgot that Stan Da P was not there to record show scenes but did go in later in the day for some show hall scenes

Show Hall with Class !, the Big Six nearest the camera
Class 1 from Chris Lilley won an AGS Medal
The plants included Phlox kelseyi
Trillium grandiflorum

Class 2, a three pan shown by Frank and Barbara Hoyle
The three plants were primula henricii (back) Phlox griseola (earned a Certificate of Merit) (middle) Androsace kasobustiana
Phlox griseola
Vitaliana primuliflora from Ian Kidman (4)
The Blackthorne Trophy, best Asiatic primula was won by the Hoyles with
Primula henricii
Primula pseudoelatior from Lawrence Peet (6)

In the same class from Barry Winter was

speaking of Barry here he is (back to us) explaining why being a Show Sec is a 'belt and braces' job

Show scene with middle bench, the Farrer Medal plant being front left
The Farrer Medal winner from Ian Kidman in 25, also winning the David Baker Vase, Best North American was
Cassiope lycopodiodes 'Beatrice Lilley
This plant also won the Farrer at Chesterfield the week before...some plant

Chrysanthemum maresii, another from B&S Smethurst
Class 28, 3 each from a different continent had three interestin Primula from John Richards which were
Primula denticulata alba (Asia), P. auricula (Europe) and P simensis (Africa)
John also had Daphne 'Beauworth' in 31
x Phylliopsis 'Mermaid' from Ian Kidman (32), he gave it away to Barry Winter at the end of the show

Not the best of pictures but one of my favourite primula, I remember seeing it in the wild with Henry and Margaret Taylor in the Indian Himalya foothills
Primula reidii var williamsii shown by John Richards (57)
A cyclamen shown by Tommy Anderson in 59
Another Iberis taurica, shown by Jim Watson (62) looks different from the one I posted of Tom Green's plant, might have named the latter wrong
