In spite  of a  fall, a visit to the hospital Accident and  Emergency dept. and  a  problem with the  window  of the  RBGE van,  Elspeth Mackintosh tells  me that RBG Edinburgh are  planning to take a display  of  bulbs  and alpines to the  SRGC Show  in  Milngavie  on Saturday 4th May.   Made  of  stern stuff these  gardeners!

Too true. I banjoed myself taken the wheelie bin round the front.  Off to the A&E on Thursday evening, given two co-codomol tablets and told to wait  One and a half hours later I gave up and went home. Next day I went back up for X-rays -bruised rib cage, grazed and bruised knee and my thumb in a splint.  Seemingly the last evening had been bedlam according to the Doctor - people deciding to crash their cars everywhere.  She said that if I hadn't had a good layer of fat around my middle, I would have broken my ribs.  So, stuff the diet and bring on the meringues.
Gardening continues apace but bending is not an option!

Superb display from Alex O'Sullivan at today's @SRGC Show at Milngavie - Alex works  for RBGE and is also an AGS member. He has visited  South America, too.
Alex wrote : "Very proud to have received a gold award for my exhibition of South American Alpines @ScottishRockGC Glasgow show today."

Alex also entered some plants in the show  8) - " Two first with: Nassauvia lagascae ssp lagascae, Dionysia sarvestanica ssp spathulata @ScottishRockGC Glasgow show today. A really excellent show as well! Well done to Richard and his team."

David Millward took the Forrest medal with Saxifraga pubescens Snowcap which was  part of his class 2 winning three pan that took the Henry Archibald rosebowl. Local group member John di Paolo took the jubilee prize for best plant in a small pot with another  Snowcap. David & Stella Rankin won both the Buchanan rose bowl for class 1 six pans and the Buchanan challenge cup for class 3 three  new or rare plants

Glasgow always attracts several  friends from  the north  of England. George Young had  the  best orchid while Ian Kidman won the Joan Stead prize for  best primula and Lionel Clarkson  received a merit cert for his gesneriad Jancaemonda vandedemii. Back in Scotland Watt Russell again won the Ian Donald cup for best Scottish plant  with Paris quadrifolia.

Missed  at Perth due to George's accident the Drongan duo brought  a car full of  fine plants. Sue won the Diamond Jubilee small six pan against  very stiff competition, had another merit certificate for Anisotome imbricata as well as one for a very good Benthamiella patagonica. Edinburgh group treasurer  Peter Moore was the most successful exhibitor in section 2.

edit  by  M : Peter  Moore  also  won  the  trophy  for  most  points  in Section 2 (Peter's  photo)

Your reporter  retained the  Crawford  cup for most first points in the open section, the Don Stead bulb prize despite the tulips going over in the car and the Edward Darling trophy for class 4 three dwarf rhodos.
Graeme  & Hilary from Rumbling Bridge received  a gold medal for their very attractive auricula theatre.
